#ionline: А1 and UNFPA developed a new digital literacy program

А1 under support of UN Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) in Belarus launches a new educational program in the framework of voluntary movement #ionline. Specifically for this purpose the experts designed eligibility guidelines for social workers engaged in teaching digital literacy skills to elderly people and people with limited capabilities.

Voluntary movement #ionline is created under initiative of A1 and is operating since 2020. Everyone willing to learn how to use a smartphone and mobile internet or teach others can join this movement. From the start of the project elderly people are the main target group given the fact they need a special approach in mastering modern technologies and support from their close ones.

As of now the project will focus on people with limited capabilities – there have been eligibility guidelines already designed for social workers and a series of booklets on digital literacy in a simple language that is easy to understand for everyone. Tutorials for teaching and self-study are published on the portal of the project https://ionline.a1.by. Within the educational program #ionline social workers from all over the country will learn how to effectively apply all educational materials.

Trainings for social workers engaged with elderly people and people with limited capabilities are organized under support of Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus. Trainings for volunteers and social workers are hosted online and are realized within the framework of the joint project between A1 and UNFPA in strengthening digital literacy implemented within the framework of Cooperation Agreement signed between both organizations. Through this partnership there was an #ionline guide launched last year including guidelines for internet beginners and six master classes in digital literacy skills organized across all Belarusian regions. #ionline training was attended by 100 students and over 500 online students.
