A1 Improves Mobile Coverage in Rural Areas
With another dacha season just around the corner, A1 is taking another step to elevate its mobile network in rural areas. The improvements employed an additional UMTS-900 band, allowing for a better mobile coverage in villages, dacha settlements, recreation areas, and along traffic routes. This is a truly welcome change before the summer, when lots of A1 users will be spending their vacations in the countryside.
A1 was the first mobile operator in Belarus to deploy a second UMTS channel at 900MHz in 2023. A 900MHz frequency is used to provide a high-quality mobile network in rural areas. Compared to a 2,100MHz frequency, it ensures a stronger signal and wider coverage. A 900MHz signal is better at passing through obstacles and has a larger capacity, ensuring great mobile service even in areas with complex landscapes and high-density urban environments. The additional channel has almost doubled the capacity of the existing 3G network within the coverage area of the second carrier frequency. As a result, A1 users can enjoy a better quality of voice calls and a faster Internet connection.
