An artful calendar featuring Belarusian sayings Kind Jokes was released under support of A1

Belarusian Association of Social Workers with support of A1 released a creative calendar Kind Jokes by New 2020 with exclusive drawings illustrating 13 Belarusian sayings selected from 8000 options! The calendar was tailored by people of uneasy fate, i.e. – attendees of rehabilitation centre of Minsk club Open Soul. It was presented on 18 December together with the leader of ethno-trio Troitsa Ivan Kirchyk.

The calendar was designed by experts of Minsk clubhouse together with attendees of the centre who all together recited and comprehended about eight thousand Belarusian sayings, selected several dozens of the most interesting and then offered their ideas to a Belarusian artist Tatiana Byts. If there is a garden, there come nightingales, driving a mistress is not just shaking a beard, so long as there is God and kind people around, everything will be fine – every month starts with such messages.

“Projects that facilitate a vibrant presentation of Belarusian language and culture is one of the most important directions of A1 corporate social responsibility. And we are happy that Kind Jokes calendar continues this tradition while its design created by artist Tatiana Byts is a combination of avant garde and native motives. What is also important is that this project draws attention to Minsk clubhouse Open Soul engaged in something truly remarkable”, - noted Victor Pozdnyakov, head of A1 corporate social responsibility.

Minsk clubhouse Open Soul is a project of Belarusian Association of social workers aiming to support people with mental disorders. Every member has a different life story but what unites them is the willingness to overcome consequences of the diseases, learn something useful and find friends. The centre is organized in the way that every participant of rehabilitation program regains the sense of self-worth and self-confidence, feels support and opportunity to interact with other people.

“Celebrating holidays together is a good tradition and in this case is also useful for it facilitates rehabilitation. Therefore, we found it a great idea to create the calendar that would remind the visitors of the centre of pleasant get-togethers they have ahead. And we thank A1 for support of this initiative. Creating this calendar was truly something very special for our experts and participants of rehabilitation programs provided by Minsk clubhouse Open Soul”, - emphasized Ekaterina Guzovskaya-Gora, representative of Belarusian Association of Social Workers.

The calendar was presented together with one of the most famous researchers of Belarusian folklore and leader of ethno-trio Troitsa Ivan Kyrchyk. Within the framework of social project Kind Jokes he presented to the guests his famous monoperformance The Road of May based on folk songs and is a fusion of the spiritual and material, ritual and magic, musical and singing heritage of Belarusian culture.

“I would like to underscore that Kind Jokes is not just a creative calendar but a collection of folk sayings. Our ancestors’ folklore is a well of wisdom. We listen to and sing their songs, take part in rituals and as if piece by piece fill and clean ourselves up. Any of such projects or concerts for me is a sacral confession I am seriously preparing for. Because this is a tribute to our ancestors who are gone but who see, hear and help us if we appreciate the wisdom they had left for us as a heritage. Once we will be ancestors too. And what will we be? It seems to me the team that created this calendar thought about it too”, - commented Ivan Kirchyk.

The calendar is not for sale and will be distributed only by Minsk clubhouse Open Soul. Support of it’s members and experts in realization of other projects is welcome through voluntary or sponsorship aid.
