Art project The Future is being realized in Frunzensky rayon of Minsk under support of A1

Street art project The Future under support of A1 is a large scale initiative not only for Minsk but for the whole Eastern Europe. A joint project organized by Administration of Frunzensky rayon in Minsk, a street art community Urban Myths and A1 united artists from Belarus, Serbia and Spain.

Three monumental murals on the facades of three 12-storeyd residential houses in Kuntsevschina (ul. Prititskogo 134, 136 and 150) are linked by pieces of one creative concept. The Future aims to demonstrate contemporary Belarus and it’s progress via images of young people, i.e. new characters of the modern times.

“We united the efforts with our partners, i.e. Administration of Frunzensky rayon and Urban Myths project since the basic idea of the said initiative is combination of traditions and technologies as a trigger for going into the future. And at the same way that Minsk dwellers inspired project team for this artwork, our countrymen and their needs are the source of going into the future for us. Besides, The Future is literally a beautiful opportunity to once again address the question of support of the national culture and language. The first is reflected in linkage to Belarusian mythology and symbols while the second is the name of the triptych and all it’s pieces in Belarusian”, - commented Nikolai Bredelev, head of A1 PR.

Already now Minsk dwellers can see two out of three planned works, i.e. Freelance and Digital Light by Artes (Serbia) and Mutus (Belarus) artists correspondingly. The center of every mural is made of vibrant images inspired by impressions of contemporary Minsk and it’s dwellers as much as wealth of Belarusian history and culture. Artez artist drew inspiration from urban everyday life, i.e. from metro during peak hours up to popular fancy places of the Belarusian capital – reflecting all impressions in the image of a modern young female freelancer. His counterpart from Mutus united mythology and technologies in his work: the thread of fate comes from a digital “cloud”.

“Minsk is a modern rapidly growing city while Frunzensky rayon is the most heavily populated district of the capital. The idea of attracting artists for modernization of typical residential houses built 30-40 years ago appeared very interesting to us. Interviews of the inhabitants showed they supported this idea. Today we are searching new approaches to improvement and changes in the appearance of the district and the attitude of the residents is very important to us. We have achieved a successful creative alliance with A1 and Urban Myths activists the outcome of which we are happy to demonstrate today to Minsk dwellers”, - commented Denis Drapei, first deputy chief of Administration of Frunzensky rayon.

The Future is made by photorealism technique. Interestingly, all models are real Minsk dwellers selected by the artists right on the streets of Minsk and reflected in their works.

“Street art in the contemporary culture is a symbolic appeal to the city dwellers via creative statement. Therefore it is important that today the centerpoint of Minsk street art shifts to heavily-populated bedroom communities. The theme of the project is contemporary Belarus, it’s uniqueness, intrinsic link of the future with traditions and modern technologies. With this project we would like to inspire Minsk dwellers and guests to think about important things –our life, the present and the future of the country. We do hope that the dialogue between the city and it’s dwellers owing to this project will become more colorful and productive. And we are happy that the city and A1 as a business actively participate in creating such a humanitarian impact”, - noted Oleg Larichev, project coordinator.

The Future will be finished in November this year. It’s third artist is Slim, a young but already famous street art artist from Spain. He will arrive in Belarus in November and will start working together with his colleague Jofre Oliveras. Creative concept of Slim mural is based on the topic of the family and mutual support as a core value for the Belarusians. Leading roles of the project will be performed by children, those who wield modern technologies and the future of the country.
