More than 5,200 urban centers: A1 and beCloud launched 4G in rural areas of the Vitebsk region

A1 Enterprise, provider of telecom, ICT and content services, and the beCloud infrastructure provider have expanded the 4G network coverage in the Vitebsk region by almost sevenfold, now covering over 5,200 urban centers. Now high-speed mobile Internet powered by LTE technology has become available in more than 75 % of the region's territory, including the rural areas, inhabited by over 98 % of its population.

Over 200 base stations operating in the 800 MHz frequency band were installed in the Vitebsk region during the project implementation. It provides wide geographical network coverage and reliable signal reception in countryside, including that outside urban centers.

Chashniki (95.4 %), Orsha (93.5 %), Liozna (90.3 %), Beshankovichy (89.3 %) and Lyepyel (88.1 %) districts became the leaders in terms of 4G territorial coverage in the Vitebsk region.

By the population inhabiting the 4G network coverage area, Vitebsk district ranks first: here 99.7 % of residents have access to 4G communication. Furthermore, over 99 % of the population have access to the fourth generation communication in Chashniki, Verkhnyadzvinsk and Polotsk districts. This being said, the most significant changes were implemented in Syanno, Chashniki, Dokshytsy, Braslaw and Verkhnyadzvinsk districts: twice as many residents will be able to use 4G communication services following the 4G coverage improvement.

The Vitebsk region has become the fourth region of Belarus where, within the framework of cooperation between A1 and beCloud, the project to expand the coverage area of the fourth generation communications was implemented. Prior to that, starting from July 2020, similar work was carried out in the Gomel, Mogilev and Minsk regions. The 4G network coverage area for A1 subscribers will be practically equal to the current A1's 3G network coverage area across the country by 2023, providing access to high-speed 4G mobile Internet to residents of Belarus across more than 98 % of the country.
