A1 subscribers have free access to a short code 201 created for senior citizens

A1 subscribers have a free access to information line 201 for elderly people who have to stay isolated due to outbreak of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. This is how A1 supports the project A Kind Telephone organized by Belarusian Red Cross and Imena platform.

A unique short number 201 is operational since 30 March with the aim to help senior citizen facing pandemic outbreak. Volunteers selected and trained by Red Cross experts work in shifts answering to questions and concerns, sharing information where to seek necessary aid, provide psychological support.

“Given the threat of coronavirus spread elderly people appeared to be particularly at risk and are recommended not to leave their homes even for staples or medications. In these settings many people lack basic socializing, some do not have any close ones. That is why it is fundamentally important now to unite our efforts in order to help everyone who needs it more than ever. In such sensitive situation A1 is happy to support this initiative that makes it possible for senior citizens to get necessary aid easily and support with no additional costs”, - commented Nikolai Bredelev, head of A1 PR.

The highest priority for the volunteers is to inform elderly people why it is so crucially important to stay at home during coronavirus outbreak and not to attend any public places, advise places to shop for foodstuff or medication without leaving their home. Besides, operators are prepared just to listen to the people calling in order for them to overcome absence of basic socializing. Nowadays A Kind Telephone under a short code 201 is operational from 9am to 6 pm on weekdays.
