A1 Tip: Make Sure Your SIM Card and Phone Support 4G/LTE

Private Customers

When going on a vacation abroad, booking a hotel, buying plane tickets, and checking your passport expiry date are not the only things on your to-do list. It's equally important to make sure your SIM card and your phone support the 4G/LTE network.

In some countries, which are among the most popular destinations among Belarusians, mobile service providers have already taken a step back from the 3G standard, only providing the 4G/LTE network.

Here is our 101 guide on 4G phone settings. To check if your SIM card supports 4G, enter the USSD code *181# and press the Dial key. If it doesn't, you need to replace your SIM card with a more advanced one. You can do that for free at any A1 store. All you need is a passport. Also, if you store important data, such as contacts, on your SIM card, be sure to save it to your phone memory. To check if your mobile phone supports 4G, use the same USSD code. And if you're still using a smartphone or a tablet with no 4G support, you might want to consider buying a new shiny device at А1 stores.

And last but not least, you need to enable the right mobile network in your settings. Enable 4G in your phone settings and activate automatic selection from all available networks (4G/3G/2G, depending on which telecom standards are supported by your phone).

Done! Now you can enjoy a full range of communication opportunities while on vacation or during business trips!
