On October 8 in the Gallery of Modern Arts “Ў” thefourthconcept exhibition of theSmart Artsemifinalists. The project presentation under the name Transformation will be held till October 22, 2011.

In his project sculptor Nikolay analyzes sculptural traditions of the urban environment in Minsk. The author questions on what the sculpture is in the existing public space, how monuments interact with citizens, and what modern monuments should look like. The artist tries finding his own alternative to the well-established canons: for example, he suggests devoting memory plates to ordinary people and hanging them out in the city’s sleeping areas.

We remind you that the contest for young artists was announced by velcom in cooperation with the “Ў” gallery in February of this year. Among the Smart Art semifinalists there is an art group txyz.info (Sasha Yvlev, Olya Karelkina, Ekaterina Shakh), Roman Aksenov and Tatyana Prudinnik, whose works were presented to the audience. There are still the exhibitions on the projects of Gonzai group (Andrey Ankuda, Taras Kalyagin, Pavel Kedytch) and FAU group (Ivan Kravtsov, Artem Polomany). The winner of the Smart Art contest for young artists under the age of 30 will be announced at the end of 2011 and will have the right to organize his/her personal exhibition in the main hall of Modern Art Gallery “Ў”. There is little time left!

The representatives of a professional jury will choose the project, which will truly become the ace of aces. Vladimir Tsesler, the Belarusian artist and designer, Ruslan Vashkevich, the Minsk actual art artist, the gallery and velcom representatives will be the members of the jury.
