VOKA’s birthday, cinema rebranding and a unique screen: VOKA shares its plans for the near future
Due to transition to А1 brand, VOKA video service has announced significant changes and shared its plans for further development of the content available to users. These changes take place in anticipation of the fifth anniversary of the service which falls on August 16.
On the night of 11 to 12 August velcom cinema multiplex located at Dana Mall Shopping Centre in Minsk, changed its name and visual design: from now on it will be known as VOKA CINEMA. On August 16 – on VOKA’s birthday – all halls of the renovated cinema will be engaged in celebration arranged for VOKA’s clients who have received invitations. During the said birthday party the best films from an extensive collection of the video service will be demonstrated. Apart from that, VOKA will give presents to its current and new clients for the whole month. After reconstruction one of the VOKA CINEMA’s halls will turn into the country’s first ScreenX cinema hall.

ScreenX is the first multi-projection technology in the world intended for cinemas which provides moviegoers with a 270-degree viewing experience and creates a maximum immersion effect for the audience. In order to create such an effect two side screens are used in addition to the main one, as a result of which an image literally surrounds the audience in the hall.
“In the five years since its creation, VOKA video service went from being a service for mobile devices to a large aggregator of diverse content. For us, it is important that VOKA service has its own recognizable and unique style. Therefore, in addition to cooperation with leading global content producers, we are actively working to develop our own projects,” said Anton Bladik, A1’s Deputy General Director for Digital Platforms and Content. “We are constantly searching for new ways for our users to be able to enjoy the most intriguing novelties in the world of contemporary digital TV and movies. Now that VOKA brand covers both an online video service and a cinema, our users will have even more options to choose from.”
One of the key focus areas of VOKA is creation of the Belarusian-language content – including for demonstration on a big screen. Starting from September 2019 in cooperation with the Silver Screen cinema chain, VOKA launches a project aimed at localization of movies for the Belarusian market and their translation into Belarusian. The project will start with professional Belarusian-dubbed versions of classic masterpieces of global cinematography and iconic movies. In future, there are plans to translate the latest movies and to present them to the audience on the day of their world premiere. The screening of such films will take place on a monthly basis in VOKA CINEMA and in all cinemas of the Silver Screen chain in Minsk.
