E-sports can become an official sport in Belarus at the initiative of A1.

Belarusian eSport took another big step towards the official recognition: on April 17, 2020, the state registration of the Belarusian eSports Association (BAKS) took place. A1 Unitary Enterprise initiated its creation.

The Association was founded in the interests of developing and popularizing eSport in the Republic of Belarus, as well as making it more commonly accepted.

Besides A1, BAKS members include VOKA videoservice and the Belarusian Cybersport Federation. New members are expected to join the association in the future (only legal entities can act in this capacity).

"The key reason we came up with the initiative to create an association is the opportunity to start the process of recognizing e-sports as an official sport in Belarus. Now, on behalf of the Belarusian eSport Association, we can issue a corresponding statement. We count on the strong support of the association and its goals by all organizations interested in the development of Belarusian eSport: first of all, by already existing teams, as well as companies that believe in its potential and are ready for action,”Anton Bladik, A1 Deputy General Director for digital platforms and content, stated.

Other goals of the Belarusian eSport Association include the attraction of investments in the development of Belarusian eSport, coordination of activities of its members, etc.
