Disney’s Up for the first time ever dubbed in Belarusian for VOKA

On 24 December VOKA offers an online premiere of Up with a new voice over. An official dubbing where the Disney characters for the first time ever speak Belarusian was specifically produced for the video on demand service.

Up is a feature length animated cartoon produced by Pixar and Disney. It’s main character is an elderly grumbler Carl who after the death of his wife makes up his mind to realize their old dream about a big journey, ties up thousands of balloons to their house and goes off on a journey to South America. On the way, the old man figures out he is not alone but with an eight-year-old Russel.

In 2009 for the first time ever Cannes Festival opened with a cartoon and it was Up. In 2010 it gained two Golden Globes and two Oscars for the best animation film and for the best original music.

“Our projects dedicated to promotion of the Belarusian language is one of the key directions of A1 corporate social responsibility. Over a few years we supported screenings of the world cinema dubbed in Belarusian on a big screen. VOKA VOD features a special section for translated films that is continuously updated and now on the eve of winter holidays we are happy to present an online premiere Up. Belarusian version was produced jointly with Disney which approved not only every actor for dubbing but also technical features”, - commented Nikolai Bredelev, head of A1 PR.

The dubbing was done by Kinakong. The main characters Carl and Russel get a Belarusian voice of an honored artist of the Republic of Belarus Valery Shushkevich and 11-year-old Gregory Denisenko, a young artist selected out of over 30 contenders.

Up will enrich Belarusian section of VOKA CINEVOKA where one can also find for example redubbed cartoons like Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea and the Secret of Kells. Besides animated and fiction films, CINEVOKA offers series in Belarusian.
