A1 relaunches 4G in Gomel

A1, a telecom, ICT and content service provider, has resumed providing 4G mobile Internet services for its subscribers in Gomel. This launch took place as part of the strategic partnership between A1 and the beСloud infrastructure operator for the development of 4G mobile communications in Belarus.

4G communication in the network of the beСloud infrastructure operator in a frequency range of 1,800 MHz has become available for A1 subscribers in Gomel in March this year. After optimization works had been carried out and the network capacity had been expanded more than twice, 4G communication was restarted in the largest regional center.

To ensure the best user experience for its subscribers in Gomel, A1 provided its infrastructure to the beCloud operator for base stations and the transport network based on fiber-optic communication lines. 136 base stations are currently responsible for the operation of the 4G network for A1 subscribers in the second largest city in Belarus. Until the end of 2019, 26 "towers" more are planned to be put into commercial operation in Gomel.

To make sure that your mobile device and SIM card support 4G technology, it is necessary to check the selected cellular network settings, 3G/4G or LTE, in your smartphone settings. A corresponding designation, which confirms the possibility to use the transmission service, will appear on the device screen.

To check whether the 4G network is supported by SIM cards, A1 subscribers may use a free USSD request *181#. In response, the operator will send an SMS with the result of the check of the smartphone and the SIM card. If your SIM card does not support 4G, its replacement will be made free of charge at any company store or dealership centers.
