A1 begins works on providing communication on the third line of the Minsk Metro

As part of the preparation for commissioning the third line of the Minsk Metro, A1, the provider of telecom, ICT and content services, has begun works on launching mobile communication and the Internet at the new line stations, as well as in station-to-station blocks.

The works on providing communication on the third line of the Minsk Metro are currently carried out at the first 3.5 km start-up section comprising stations such as Kovalskaya Sloboda, Vokzalnaya, Ploshchad Frantishka Bogushevicha and Yubileynaya Ploshchad. After it has been opened, new line passengers will be able to make voice calls, including in HD-Voice format, and to use mobile Internet both on station platforms and while the train is moving – just like on the entire length of the two already existing lines.

The works on the new section of the Minsk Metro will be carried out based on the solution earlier developed by the A1 specialists to launch communication in the tunnels of the Avtozavodskaya and Moskovskaya lines. Since June 2019, it has been successfully applied in all existing sections of the Minsk Metro, providing passengers with continuous mobile communication and 3G Internet throughout the entire trip.

This solution is to lay a leaky cable (feeder) connected to base stations and is designed to transmit a stable signal instead of the usual cell antennas. Currently, preparatory works are carried out to lay this cable in two tunnels between the Ploshchad Frantishka Bogushevicha and Yubileynaya Ploshchad stations.
